Bone UltraSonic Scanner™ (BUSS)

Bone UltraSonic Scanner ™ (BUSS) is an ultrasound device that can be used to screen, diagnose and monitor osteoporosis through multiparametric assessment of bone mechanical and structural characteristics. It was developed based on the patented multifrequency scanning bone ultrasonometry technology introduced by Artann with the support of NASA and the National Institutes of Health grants.
Osteoporosis, widely considered “a silent epidemic” is associated with 2.3 million fractures and $27 billion costs annually. A three-fold increase in the number of osteoporosis related hip fractures is expected within next 50 years. Lack of affordable diagnostic technology leaves 77% of the estimated 28 million at-risk Americans unmanaged with only 10% of patients at risk diagnosed and treated.

BUSS is a novel, cost-effective, compact and easy-to-use device well positioned for mass screening of osteoporosis and primary monitoring of people with high fracture risk. The device was tested in preliminary clinical studies that have demonstrated superior diagnostic capabilities in assessment of bone health when compared to conventional bone ultrasonometers. We are currently looking for qualified clinical and business partners to complete clinical validation of the device and to bring the technology to the market.
